...of all the systems within any type of organization (and I'm guessing this includes YOURS), the system given the least focus for real improvement & development is the PEOPLE-SYSTEM. Think about it. Most of us realize that this nice-sounding phrase is merely good stuff for the walls of HR.
Ideally the most valuable resource in an organization should actually 'first of all' be Leaders and Leadership!
...sadly, this is not true either.
We passionately believe that real sustainable organizational change can only come through an effort and commmitment to improving LEADERS, LEADERSHIP, TEAMERSHIP and WORK RELATIONSHIPS.
Management and Quality programs/concepts come and go, each with limited success stories. Our experience tells us that most of these noble efforts (like Moving Cheese, TQM, Lean Business, etc) fall short in implementation simply due to a lack of focus and importance placed on people and leadership.
Great teamwork can only exist when solid relationships are developed and maintained. Therefore, from the top down, an effort must be placed on building trust and establishing communications throughout...between individuals, leaders, within teams, between departments and from the very top to the very bottom. Doing Team training 'down below' or Leadership training for Frontline Supervisors is only minimally effective, due to those above them not practicing and modeling effective leadership and teamwork.

Companies, large and small (and applicable for teams in general), struggle to improve and become more productive and profitable through programs, fads and other ill-fated 'quality improvement' efforts. The reality is teams and organizations overall, are attempting to function with untrained leadership and dysfunctional teams/working relationships,...and assuming these things will just work out well on their own. With the erosion of family dynamics in our society, this assumption is becoming more and more flawed. Teams, managers and organizations have become numb to all this and just unconsciously accepted that 'this is just the way it is'.

This is really simple: Develop your managers and supervisors in LEADERSHIP, and develop your employees 'relationships' and train your teams on TEAMERSHIP. Then hire, promote, train, mentor and develop people from now on, based upon this organizationally-understood 'leadership' criteria.
